Getting Started

Why Did I choose Wix?

I decided to go with Wix to create my portfolio after speaking with a few people because I am not very technologically inclined and I heard it was fairly straightforward to use. After creating an account I also realized I had used the program a few years ago and was therefore somewhat familiar. Once I had to choose a template, I also liked Wix's design choices. They were simple but nice and they offer the creator room to be creative.

Why I chose the setup I did:

I picked a template that was more neutral in tone but still had a round and friendly feel. I placed my bio and picture on the home page. Currently, I have a travel picture of me in Sicily up, but I will end up changing that to a more professional photo once I have one done. I made sure I added a blog spot for the weekly reflections that were mentioned. There is also a portfolio page for my more professional work. I have also made sure to add a resume and a contact page. I did fill out the contact page with a brand new email I created for this purpose as well as a less personal Instagram account. I included a project page for any ongoing activities I choose to be part of in the future. I did move the bar to get around the website to the top center of the page so that it was easier to see. It was much more difficult to locate beforehand.

What I hope to showcase the most on my site:

I hope that on my site I am able to showcase what makes my historical voice and perspective unique. I want some of my research to be showcased on my site so that others can understand my take and hopefully learn about a topic they had never even thought of before.
