I have finally finished renaming all the files that were designated to me. So, this week I got to start learning how to use endnote. The way P.R.I.N.T. organizes all the files is that after renaming them they get downloaded onto endnote where they are sorted and other things like keywords are added. On Monday morning one of my teammates taught me the endnote process which I am still getting the hang of. It is definitely tricky and the next time I went to upload PDF files on my own, Endnote just would not open. Fortunately, a teammate who happens to be very tech-savvy was in the office and she was able to help me out.
As of now, I have uploaded all the PDF files I created into Endnote, I just haven’t done any of the extra things I need to do. Admittedly, it is those extra things that scare me. Adding in keywords and finding all the information that I will need to include seems like something that will become easy once I actually have a firm grasp of what I am doing, but until that happens, it seems like a lot. However, I am up to the challenge.
This week I also began creating an infographic to show the differences and similarities between the religious groups in P.R.I.N.T. After speaking with my tech-savvy teammate, I have decided that in my extra time, I will create two forms of infographics, which I will show to the team so that they can decide which will be best for the project’s purposes. For the first one, I will be using a timeline template from Canva that will include the information for each group directly on it, and for the other, I will create a family tree design from scratch in Word. The idea for the second one would be that the tech team would be able to make the infographic interactive so that when someone hovers or clicks on each religious group, a pop-up explaining what that group is would appear. The main difficult part will be condensing all the information I learned while researching these groups.
This week, I also looked through some of the non-transcribed documents in the Amsterdam archive with the purpose of finding the letters that seem the most interesting so that they can be uploaded into the platform Zooniverse so that others around the world might transcribe them. I had a great time doing this because some of the letters and documents proved more interesting than most people might think they are.
